Become an APS Data Graduate The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is leading the recruitment of more than 250 data graduates for placements across the Australian Government. If you have graduated university within the last five years we want to hear from you! Leading the Australian Public Service Data Professional Stream, the ABS is at the centre of developing specialised data professionals to build a data capable APS. One application, multiple opportunities By completing one application as part of the Australian Government Graduate Program Data Stream, you will open the door to over 30 different Australian Government agencies, including the ABS, Australian Taxation Office, Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Department of Health. 

Data roles are varied and provide access to all aspects of government, including policy development, research, program management and service delivery. Work in data analysis, data acquisition, data engineering or more specialised roles in data science, methodology or geospatial analysis. There are lots of roles across government that require you to work with data, and we are open to applicants from all fields of study. Common backgrounds for our data graduates include:
