What are the National Innovation Games?

The National Innovation Games is a series of innovation challenges to be held in every state and territory across the country in an effort to bring together small to medium businesses, corporates, the Australian Government and emerging talent to solve some of the greatest challenges facing Australia.

The Challenge: Business resilience

The National Innovation Games addresses major topics. This Challenge will require you to think “outside of the box”, brainstorm, ideate and design innovative solutions to help small and medium businesses innovate and up-skill for a sustainable future, addressing the Challenge "Business resilience: Optimising your essential services during times of crisis".

How does it work?

Paddl Games Challenges are high pressure, fun days professionally facilitated by Paddl. Introducing design thinking techniques, at least 60 selected students and graduates will collaborate with small to medium businesses, mentors and Paddl Games facilitators in virtual innovation teams of around 12 people.

- Each Innovation Team works collaboratively in multidisciplinary groups made up of students, graduates and business representatives to come up with innovative ideas and solutions. You’ll work with people from diverse backgrounds, skill sets and levels of experience.

- The Paddl Games facilitators will support and guide you every step of the way so that you will be successful (and have lots of fun!). You will be provided with documentation and plenty of opportunities to ask lots of questions to the Paddl Games crew.

- You will e-meet your team members before the day via the online chat tool Slack (it’s easy to use and a great way to stay in contact) and have the chance to introduce yourselves, discuss Challenge strategy and choose a team name.

- Challenge Labs will provide access to specialist knowledge, insights, data and advice to all teams and are hosted by subject-matter experts relevant to the Challenge topic.
