What is an ACU Work Rights Volunteer? 

As a volunteer you will provide information to international students about services they can access for information on:

  • their employment rights and conditions; and
  • how to get help to resolve workplace issues.

What is involved? (Please see attachment for more information)

Total of 15 hours of engagement (including training) to be taken anytime over two semesters in 2020.

Attend a compulsory half day training facilitated by the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) on November 20, 2019 from 9-2pm. (This is a 5 hour event and lunch will be provided)

Complete 5 x 2 hour shifts in addition to the half day training. These 2 hour shifts can be completed across both semesters at events such as Orientation Week - International Welcome (North Sydney or Strathfield), International Welcome in week 2 (North Sydney), Market day in week 1 (North Sydney or Strathfield) and the International Farewell Session in week 12 (North Sydney).

Who can apply?

This opportunity is open to all currently enrolled International and Domestic students who can demonstrate a genuine motivation to learn about Australian working rights and communicating the information to other students.
